We are pleased to announce our next collaborative anthology! Joining with Chyina Powell and the Women of Color Writers’ Circle, Inked in Gray Press is proud to present:
Affection
Affection, by definition, is “a feeling of liking and caring for someone or something, tender attachment, a fondness.” We’re looking for short stories by women of color that talk about the affection and show us a fresh, unique view on the topic.

Submission Details
Submission Period: December 1, 2023 to March 30, 2024
Theme: Affection
Parameters: Language and violence must be PG-13. No graphic violence or nudity. Please include all trigger warnings, even if only mentioned and not described on the page (ie: References to alcoholism, but character does not drink on the page).
Who Can Submit: Open to women of color ONLY. (You do *not* have to be a part of the Women of Color Writers’ Circle Inc.)
**International submissions accepted. **
Submissions must be in English. See further story guidelines below before submitting.
Word Limit: Up to 8,000 words. There is no minimum word count
Genres: Adult or YA Fantasy and Science Fiction only, (low fantasy/sci-fi is okay)
Payment: $45 per piece
Note: We intend on crowdfunding through Kickstarter or another appropriate platform to increase story payment beyond the payment amount listed above.
Rights: First edition exclusive anthology rights for the first six months of publication
**All Submissions and anthology communications will be managed by Dakota Rayne and Chyina Powell. Initial confirmation, acceptance emails, and publication-related emails will come from Inked in Gray Press. Upon acceptance, editing feedback will come from Chyina Powell at Women of Color Writers’ Group.

Submission Guidelines
- ONLY previously unpublished works
- You may submit up to 2 pieces, but each work must be a separate submission
- Simultaneous submissions are welcome, but please let us know if the work is accepted elsewhere
- Please don’t send us all pandemic stories – if we pick any, it will only be very few
- Include as attached .doc (or .doc compatible format) please for ease of visual accessibility.
