If you don’t already know, Indie April started as a way to bring attention to small press and self-published authors. Traditional presses often have the support of large-scale marketing teams and bigger budgets which helps them get noticed in reader communities. Indie April (#IndieApril) is an informal event during April of each year to celebrate and promote indie works. Check out the socials, especially Twitter, using the hashtag #IndieApril to check out all the promotions, activities, and events that are going on throughout the entire month.
As someone who is invested as a reader and a writer in the indie writing space, Narratess wants to celebrate books that usually don’t get the love they deserve. It’s tough to get your name and book out there, and that’s why she is a big supporter of initiatives like #IndieApril and #IndieAugust.
During April and August, Narratess posts daily author spotlights on her blog and regularly reviews indie books. Honest reviews are one of the best ways to help indie authors get noticed.
Narratess is also part of the judging panel for the Book Bloggers’ Novel of the Year award. Award venues such as these that focus on non-traditional books provide an avenue for attracting new readers and giving exposure to great books in the indie community. Traditionally published does not equate to readability.
The Indie April Sale, coming April 18th, is to give back more to the indie community and help find more readers for the incredible books in the indie community.
This #IndieApril, Narratess is going to double up on her spotlights of indie books and authors. Aside from the daily author spotlights, Narratess is hosting a huge sale with over 90 books in the fantasy, science-fiction, and horror genres. The sale runs from April 18th to 22nd and features e-books on sale for $1.99, $0.99 or FREE (see individual books on sale for more information). Look forward to a great mix of hidden gems, best sellers, and award-winning books and authors. All books are series starters, standalones, or anthology collections.
